* A memorial service for Waldo Osterman, 89, of Wood Lake will be held in the spring.  Waldo Osterman died Friday, February 21 at the Pineview Good Samaritan Center in Valentine. Survivors include a daughter Diana Tweedy of Omaha and a son Chris Osterman of Ainsworth. Holmes Funeral Home of Valentine is in charge of arrangements.

* Funeral service for Vance Baker, 98, of Valentine formerly of Springview,  Feb. 19, in the Springview United Methodist Church with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Vance Baker died Feb. 14 at Valentine.  Survivors include his wife Marilyn Baker of Valentine; sons Mark Billings of Lincoln, David Billings of Valentine and Blaine Baker of Papillion; and daughter-in-law Sandy Billings of Valentine.

* Funeral service for Clara Mae Daniels, 91, of Ainsworth, Feb. 13, in the Ainsworth Zion Lutheran Church with burial in the Ainsworth Cemetery. Clara Mae Daniels died Feb. 7 in the Sandhills Care Center. Survivors include son Eddy Daniels and wife Joan of Ainsworth; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Shirley Daniels of Ainsworth, and Mary Daniels of Ainsworth; nieces, nephews and other family members.

* Funeral service for Robert R. Mack, 98, of Ainsworth formerly of Kenesaw, Feb. 13, in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Kenesaw with burial in the Kenesaw Cemetery with military rites provided by the Hastings Veterans Association. Robert Mack died Feb. 6 in the Sandhills Care Center. Survivors include daughters Rita Paddock and husband Roland of Ainsworth, and Roanne Mack of Lincoln; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

* A memorial service for Donna Dillon, 81, of South Sioux City formerly of Ainsworth and Valentine, Feb. 8, in the Ainsworth Zion Lutheran Church with inurnment in the Grand View Cemetery near Long Pine. Donna Dillon died Jan. 27 in the St. Luke’s Hospital at Sioux City, Iowa. Survivors include sons Bill Dillon of Valentine, Stan Dillon of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Donnie Dillon of Lincoln; and sisters Loraine Biltoft of Ainsworth, and Lois Rahn of Wichita, Kan.

* Funeral service for Jackson "Jack" Roark, 89, of Long Pine, Feb. 8, in Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth with burial in the Grandview Cemetery near Long Pine with military rites. Jack Roark died Feb. 3 in the Sandhills Care Center. Survivors include his wife Wardene Roark of Long Pine; sons Dennis Roark and wife Connie of Keaau, Hawaii, and Randall Roark and wife Pam of Cheney, Wash.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Pat Thompson of Warrenton, Ore.; brother Terry Roark of Boise, Idaho; nieces, nephews and other family members.

* Funeral service for Bernard “Bernie” Holmberg, 83, of Spencer, Feb. 8, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Spencer with burial in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery and military rites performed by the Army National Guard Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 78. Bernie Holmberg died Feb. 4 in the Fillmore County Hospital at Geneva.

* A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Mervin Davis, 77, of Ainsworth. Mervin Davis died Jan. 28 in the Sandhills Care Center. Survivors include daughters Janice Davis of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Sondra Peck and husband Mike of Bonesteel, S.D.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Donna Swim and husband Roger of Springview; brother Don Davis of Scottsbluff; nieces, nephews and other family members.

* Funeral service for Byron “Bud” Stolzenburg, 80, of Crookston, Feb. 1, in the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Valentine with a private family burial in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery south of Crookston. Bud Stolzenburg died Jan. 26 at North Platte. Survivors include his wife Jean Stolzenburg; children Denise West and Kurt Stolzenburg; and sisters Sharon Eickhoff, Judi Ketelsen and Jo An Walling.

* Funeral service for John P. “Pat” Chase, 83, of Ainsworth, Feb. 1, in the St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial in the Ainsworth East Park Cemetery. Pat Chase died Jan. 29 in the Sandhills Care Center. Survivors include his wife Marlene Chase of Ainsworth; children Brenda Davis and husband Mike of Wood Lake, Michael Chase of Chanute, Kan., and Douglas Chase of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Al Chase and wife Ronna of Glendale, Ariz., and Glen Chase and wife Pam of Chanute, Kan.; nieces, nephews and other family members.

* Funeral service for Richard Duane Fink, 87, of Grand Island formerly of Purdum, Jan. 25, in the Govier Brothers Chapel of Broken Bow with interment in the Purdum Cemetery with military rites. Richard Fink died Jan. 17 at Grand Island. Survivors include sister Beverly Scheer of Broken Bow; nieces and nephews and cousins.

* Funeral service for John Richard Jochem Jr., 90, of Morrill formerly of Ainsworth, Jan. 25, in the Ainsworth Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the German Valley Cemetery near Brewster. John Jochem Jr. died Jan. 19 in his home. Survivors include children Gale Jochem, Craig Jochem, Ellen Spearman, Barb Bowlin and husband Don, John Jochem and wife Kelly, Rebecca Turner and husband Tom, Glen Jochem, Donita “Dee” Allen and husband Bill, Jackie Dishman and husband Monte, and Emma Fish and husband Mark; special friend Joyce Nelson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other family members.

Grooms, 94, of Springview, Jan. 22, in the Springview United Methodist Church with a private family inurnment at a later date in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Valentine. Sally Grooms died Jan. 18 in the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care at Bassett. Survivors include children Rhonda Kohel and husband Ed of Kearney, Laurene Munger and husband Gary of Springview, Charles Grooms of Iowa, Tammy Spies and husband Jeff of Mullen, and Pam Petersen of Mullen; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and other family members.

* Funeral service for Delores D. Ammon, 93, of Bassett, Jan. 21, in the Bassett United Methodist Church with burial in the Sybrant Cemetery near Bassett. Delores Ammon died Jan. 16 in the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care. * Funeral service for Darlene Jean Jauernig, 76, of Stuart, Jan. 20, in the Stuart Community Church with burial in the Stuart Community Cemetery. Darlene Jauernig died Jan. 16 in the Parkside Manor. * Funeral service for Harry K. Buoy, 91, of Bassett, Jan. 18, in the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Bassett with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Rose. Harry Buoy died Jan. 12 in the Rock County Hospital at Bassett. * Funeral service for Tom Osborne, 73, of Atkinson, Jan. 18, in the Atkinson United Methodist Church with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Tom Osborne died Jan. 14 in the University of Nebraska Medical Center at Omaha. Survivors include his wife Sandra Osborne of Atkinson; children Jerry Osborne and wife Melinda of Atkinson, Doreen Larson and husband Justin of Castle Rock, Colo., Charley Osborne and wife Amanda of Omaha, and Andrew Osborne and wife Crystal of Atkinson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Rose Swenson of Atkinson; and sister-in-law Ruth Osborne of Dewey, Ariz.

* Funeral service for Homer C. Kenner, 85, of Wood Lake, Jan. 13, in the Ainsworth Church of the Nazarene with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Wood Lake. Homer Kenner died Jan. 8 in the Sandhills Care Center.  Survivors include his wife Clarabelle Kenner of Wood Lake; children Lyle Kenner and wife Gina of Linton, N.D., Sandi Boehr of Florissant, Colo., Paul Kenner and wife Ronda of Wood Lake, and Bryan Kenner of Stapleton; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other family members.

* A private family memorial will be held at a later date for Laura L. Spanel, 58, of Ainsworth. Laura Spanel died Jan. 7 in the Bryan Medical Center East at Lincoln. Survivors include her husband George Spanel of Ainsworth; five step-children; five step-grandchildren; mother-in-law Glenna Abbott of Long Pine; sisters Cindy Groce of Scottsbluff, Barbara Barber and husband Tom of Canyon City, Colo., Julie Robinson and husband Rick of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kathy Renault of Havre, Mont., Pam Taylor and husband Roy Torres of Bridgeport, and Rhonda Tooley of Scottsbluff; and nieces, nephews and other family members.

Gary Davis died Dec. 29 in his home. Survivors include his wife Edna Mae Davis of Ainsworth; children Deb Sybrant and husband Allen of Ainsworth, Jim Davis and wife LaTonne of Ainsworth, Mike Davis and wife Ronda of Ainsworth, Shari Davis of Grand Island, and Charles Davis of Ainsworth; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother Paul Davis Jr. of Ainsworth; sister Marjorie Wilkins and husband Chet of Ainsworth; nieces, nephews and other family members.

Donald Stevens died Dec. 30 in the Alpine Village Retirement Center at Verdigre. Survivors include brothers Danny Stevens of Lincoln, and Gage Stevens of Franklin; and other family members.

* Funeral service for Garneta J. Johnson, 94, of Rose, Jan. 7, in the Bassett St. Peter Lutheran Church with burial in the Duff Cemetery near Rose. Garneta Johnson died Jan. 2 in the Rock County Hospital. Survivors include sons Richard Johnson of Jackson, Miss., and Jim Johnson and wife Betty of Rose; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other family members.

* A memorial service for Donna Jean Tasler, 86, of Atkinson, Jan. 4, in the Atkinson Good Samaritan Center chapel. Donna Tasler died Dec. 4 in the Atkinson Good Samaritan Center. Survivors include her husband Dewayne Tasler of Atkinson; children Wayne Tasler and wife Linda of Casper, Wyo., Jeanette Tasler of Atkinson, Jerry Tasler and wife Elaine of Atkinson, Debra Kramer and husband Kevin of Lincoln, and Tony Tasler and wife Tammy of Forest Grove, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother Ray Herrington and wife Wanda of Bassett.
